Serendipity 3

It totally lived up to the hype! We arrived on Monday night to a packed street of people hoping to get in. We breezed by since I had placed a reservation two weeks beforehand (&was put on hold for half an hour). The food wasn't spectacular, but dessert was heavenly. Rod & I pigged out & shared not only a frrozen hot chocolate, but also a drug store hot fudge sundae. We had a nice time visiting with our cousin, Jeff Sackey, & his adorable girlfriend Thara (she's from Burma).

Later in the week I read about Serendipity's Golden Opulence Sundae which includes: five scoops of Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream surrounded by dragees dipped in 18-carat gold & truffles, dribbled bittersweet chocolate with a 70 percent cacao content over it, topped with fruit-infused caviar & edible gold leaf, & served in a crystal goblet with an 18-carat gold spoon that you keep as a souvenir. The price: $1,000.00. It's in the Guinness Book of World Records.
